Gainesville 17-year-old charged with armed robbery

GAINESVILLE - A suspect remains in the Hall County jail following an armed robbery just off the Gainesville square early Saturday morning.<br /> <br /> Cpl. Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department said the hold-up happened around 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Bradford Street. The victim saw officers patrolling the square right after he was robbed and he was able to give a description of the suspect.<br /> <br /> They said they found a person who fit the description of the robber near Pepper's Grocery on E.E. Butler Parkway, a short distance away from the site of the robbery.<br /> <br /> "Officers were able to find a firearm on the individual and charged him with the armed robbery, as well as possession of marijuana," said Holbrook.<br /> <br /> Holbrook identified the suspect as 17-year-old Jahkai Maleek Washington. <br /> <br /> The victim was not injured in the incident.<br />
