Cleveland man arrested following vehicle accident with deputy in Lumpkin County

DAHLONEGA - A Cleveland man faces a list of charges after a traffic accident involving a Lumpkin County Sheriff's Deputy Saturday morning.
 
The wreck happened at the intersection of Long Branch Road and Georgia Highway 52E, according to Lumpkin County Sheriff's Lt. Chris Pfrogner.
 
"A subject ran the red light and struck our patrol car in the side.," Pfrogner stated in a news release.
 
The suspect, who was later identified at 46-year-old John Rhodes, was arrested for DUI, other traffic violations and possession of narcotics, according to Pfrogner.  Authorities also said Rhodes has several out of county and out of state warrants.
 
Rhodes was being held in the Lumpkin County Detention Center, according to Pfrogner.
 
The Georgia State Patrol is handing the accident investigation.  No one was injured.
