Licensed Physican's Assistant, pharmacist joins faculty at GA-PCOM in Suwanee

SUWANEE - Rebekah Thomas, PharmD, PA-C, has joined Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (GA-PCOM) as an assistant professor in the college’s Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program. A Loganville resident, she most recently worked as a PA with EmCare’s hospitalist division in Snellville, Georgia.

In addition to her work as a physician assistant, Thomas has extensive experience in pharmaceutical sciences. She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, before completing a pharmacy practice residency and later an internal medicine specialty pharmacy residency with Grady Health System in Atlanta. Thomas served as co-chief pharmacy resident at Grady and worked in the pharmacotherapy and anti-coagulation clinics. In 2012, she earned a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Georgia Regents University (GRU) in Augusta. She then worked as a PA at Gwinnett Consultants in Cardiology in Lawrenceville and as an assistant professor of pharmacology at GRU.

Thomas participated in pharmaceutical research at Grady where she served on the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee. A published author, she has given presentations across the Southeast. Thomas is a licensed and certified PA, a licensed pharmacist and certified in advanced cardiovascular and basic life support. She is board certified in advanced diabetes management and as a pharmacotherapy specialist. A member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, she also holds membership in the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
