Hall County High School Mountain Bike team claims state championship

GAINESVILLE — The Hall County/Prima Tappa High School Mountain Bike team rode its way to a state championship this weekend in the Georgia Mountain Bike League's penultimate race on the Gainesville campus of the University of North Georgia.

Made up of students from high schools all over Hall County, Prima Tappa's riders also won several individual awards.

Johnson High School's Molly Hayes not only helped her team claim a title, the sophomore also finished as varsity girls individual state champion. Meanwhile, eighth grader Ellie Hayes raced up in the freshman division and finished as freshman girls state champion.
 
Gainesville High School's John Wagner, a senior, also finished fifth in the varsity boys race. And Chestatee High's Davis Branyon, a sophomore, took third in the junior varsity championship.

Other team members that helped Prima Tappa to the crown included Zachary Funk (sophomore), Jack Saxton (sophomore), Sean Branyon (eighth grade, Tyler Castle (junior), Thomas Pattillo (freshman) and Max Calderon (freshman).
