Govt. surplus auction set next month in Forsyth County

Posted 12:10PM on Saturday 10th October 2015 ( 8 years ago )
CUMMING - Next month, Forsyth County government will hold a surplus auction to clear out cars, trucks, mowers and other equipment that the county no longer needs.

Director of Fleet Service Avery Gravitt said the auction typically takes place every two years in the fourth quarter.

"Vehicles, equipment, furniture, old, broken tools, things along these lines that have exceeded their life span for us as far as usage and it needs to be replaced" said Gravitt.

Gravitt said they have school buses, police vehicles, and others in the list of things for sale.

"The school buses, obviously, are from the Board of Education," said Gravitt. "They typically ask if they can join in our auction and they bring their buses over there, and we think it draws more people in."

"Some of the other equipment items that are on there are from our sheriff's office, perhaps from drug seizures, and they put those in the auction as well. So with all of our departments - Board of Education, Sheriff's Office - we have a pretty wide variety of items for sale."

The auction will take place rain or shine on November 7, with bidding beginning at 10 a.m.
