Man airlifted after overnight house fire near Cleveland

CLEVELAND - State investigators are probing an overnight house fire that left one man seriously burned west of Cleveland.
 
White County Public Safety Director David. Murphy said dispatchers received a call to a house fire at 332 Turner Ridge Drive at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday.
 
The first unit arrived on scene at 12:48 a.m., reporting a 1,500-square-foot home that was about half involved by fire, with flames through the roof.  
 
A vehicle was also on fire at the location. Firefighters received a report of one person possibly trapped inside the home.
 
"Firefighters found a male patient on scene with second- to third-degree burns over 50 percent of his body," Murphy said via email. 
 
The burn victim, whose name was not released, was flown by medical helicopter to the burn center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.  
 
Murphy said initial callers reported a large explosion followed by small explosions.
 
"The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called to the scene to determine cause and origin," Murphy said.
 
The American Red Cross was called to assist another victim at the home with immediate needs.
 
Units from Cleveland Fire Department and White County Fire Services responded.
White County firefighters remained on scene of a house fire on Turner Ridge Drive mid-morning Wednesday.
One person suffered burns and a White County home was destroyed by fire overnight.
State fire investigators are probing the cause of an overnight fire on Turner Ridge Drive west of Cleveland.
Smoke continued to rise from the house mid-morning Wednesday.
