GAINESVILLE - Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered Saturday inside a Sun Suites hotel room in Gainesville.

According to Cpl. Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department, the case is currently being investigated as a homicide. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.

WSB-TV in Atlanta is reporting that the body was first discovered inside the Jesse Jewell Parkway extended stay hotel by a maintenance man sometime after 11:30 a.m.

According to the report, at this point in the investigation police are working to determine if the person who initially rented the room is the same individual whose body was discovered. The body, which the report claims was dismembered, was apparently discovered by the employee after the room's guest failed to check out.

While very few details have been made public, the report also quotes Holbrook as saying that a dumpster from the hotel's parking lot has been hauled off by authorities and will be processed by police.

We will release further details as the story develops.
