Softball: Thomas, Bush lead No. 1 Buford past North Hall

GAINESVILLE -- Sophomore Samantha Thomas had two hits, including a home run, and five RBI to help lead Class AAAA No. 1 Buford to a 14-1 win in six innings over North Hall Tuesday in Region 8-AAAA action.<br /> <br /> The Lady Wolves (13-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAAA) scored in all but one inning behind senior pitcher Bria Bush (6-0) who went the distance allowing three hits and one walk while striking out six. <br /> <br /> Buford scored single runs in the first and second and then used a four-run fourth inning to blow the game open. Thomas had a two-run double to cap the inning.<br /> <br /> North Hall cut the lead to 6-1 in the fourth on a RBI single by Michaela Young scoring Ashley Goines, who reached with a walk. Buford scored two runs in the fifth on Thomas's home run and then put the game out of reach with six runs in the fifth, highlighted by RBI doubles from Drew Puckett and Breanna Gutierrez and a two-run triple by Sydney Stavro.<br /> <br /> Puckett finished with three hits and three RBI, Gutierrez had three hits, and Baylee Sexton had three hits and two RBI for the Lady Wolves.<br /> <br /> Kadie Sullens and Hannah Meeler each had one hit for North Hall.
