GAINESVILLE - A north Georgia real estate expert said Monday the construction of a 104-bed hospital in the Braselton area will be a catalyst for big growth in the south Hall County area in the coming years.

Making his comments on a monthly appearance on WDUN's 'Morning Show with Bill & Joel,' Frank Norton, Jr. with The Norton Agency said once Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton opens its doors in the spring of 2015, other medical offices and facilities will open in the area. After that growth, he said, will come a housing boom.

"You're going to see more and more new housing developments in and around the five-mile radius of the hospital," said Norton.

He predicted the population of the town of Braselton will grow more than 10 times its current size in the next few decades.

"Our projections are that by the year 2050, there's going to be a town of 65,000 people, and I think there's maybe three or five thousand in the city of Braselton today," said Norton.

He predicted retail growth will follow the housing explosion.
