Boy, 1, drowns in west Georgia lake

LAGRANGE, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a 1-year-old boy had died in an apparent accidental drowning in a west Georgia lake. <br /> <br /> Troup County sheriff's officials say deputies were called to West Point Lake after a 911 call early Sunday afternoon. <br /> <br /> Authorities said the boy's mother had found the child unresponsive in shallow water. Sheriff's officials said CPR and other life-saving measures were attempted. The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports that the child was taken to West Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:56 p.m. Sunday. <br /> <br /> The boy's name was not immediately released. <br /> <br /> The lake near LaGrange is just east of the Georgia-Alabama line. <br />
