4 people face 3,736 charges in Ga. tax refund scheme; allegedly netted more than $2M

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- A Cobb County grand jury has indicted four people in what prosecutors call a tax fraud scheme involving a total of 3,736 charges.<br /> <br /> Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds, who announced the indictment Thursday, says the charges include identity fraud, money laundering and racketeering.<br /> <br /> The defendants are 35-year-old Shannon Jay Bradley; 44-year-old Shelronda Kay Bingham; 42-year-old Shanese Machelle Lewis; and 36-year-old Risha Michelle Hardin. <br /> <br /> Prosecutors say the four defendants burglarized five tax-preparation offices in Cobb County in December 2012. The following year, the indictment states that they stole more than $2 million in Georgia tax refunds using the names and identifying information of 1,859 victims.
