Cross country: Chestatee girls win, boys take 2nd

The Chestatee girls cross country team took first place in a close-run race on Thursday at the Union County meet in Blairsville.<br /> <br /> The War Eagles edged out Hayesville, N.C., by four points. <br /> <br /> Lindsey Grater, Abbie Cliche, and Merry Barnett led the field for Chestatee. Bailey Hooper and Mary Ashley Easterwood both ran well to close the deal on points. <br /> <br /> Jeanna Hughes of Union County was the overall winner, taking the home course in a time of 22:07. <br /> <br /> The Chestatee boys team placed second, finishing behind Union County. Jack Carnes, the War Eagles lead runner, was second overall<br /> <br /> Chestatee will host the War Eagle Invitational on Saturday.
