NGTC hoax threat prompts campus evacuation

CLARKESVILLE - A threat scrawled on the wall of a building on the North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) campus in Clarkesville Thursday morning caused a short disruption in the day's schedule. <br /> <br /> According to NGTC Public Relations and Information Director Sandra Maughon, a written threat was discovered around 11 a.m. on a wall at the Hoyt Coe Education Building.<br /> <br /> As a precaution, several buildings on the campus were evacuated while NGTC Campus Police investigated. Habersham County and Rabun County Sheriff's officials brought bomb-sniffing dogs to the scene as part of the investigation.<br /> <br /> After searching the campus and finding nothing harmful, police allowed students and staff to return to their classes and offices about an hour after the initial discovery. The Coe Building remained closed for a longer period of time while work crews painted over the message. <br /> <br /> All buildings were open by 12:40 p.m., according to Maughon.<br /> <br /> School officials did not say what the content of the threatening message was.
