Clemson RB Zac Brooks has surgery

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson running back Zac Brooks had surgery on the foot he injured earlier this month.<br /> <br /> Tigers coach Dabo Swinney had previously said Brooks would miss the season and return next fall as a redshirt junior. Brooks was the team's leading returning rusher and was expected to be a significant part of the 16th-ranked Tigers' offense this season.<br /> <br /> Swinney also said Wednesday that reserve offensive lineman Oliver Jones tore an anterior cruciate ligament at practice Tuesday and will also miss this season. It's the second time Jones, a third-year sophomore, has torn an ACL playing football.<br /> <br /> Jones' loss is another blow to Clemson's offensive line depth. Earlier this month, lineman Shaq Anthony decided to transfer.<br /> <br /> The Tigers open the season Saturday at No. 12 Georgia.
