Chestnut Mountain Creative School of Inquiry (CMCSI) has announced the
establishment of the Pam BureI Character Award in honor of the school's
Assistant Principal, Pamela Nash Burel, who lost her battle with lung cancer two weeks ago.

According to a statement from the Hall County School System, Burel will be remembered by all for her many admirable traits, especially her
loyalty, sense of humor and strong work ethic.

The namesake award will be presented annually to a CMCSI 5th-grader who has "clearly demonstrated a consistent and notably strong work ethic, as well as, displayed loyalty and integrity during his or her academic career at CMCSI." The name of each recipient of this award will be engraved on a plaque which will be on display in the school's front lobby.

Recipients will also receive a certificate during the school's awards ceremony held each spring. The principal, assistant principal, counselor, and 5th grade teachers (with input appropriate CMCSI faculty) will select the recipient on an annual basis.
