ATLANTA (AP) Authorities say an owl that went missing from Zoo Atlanta has been found on the front porch of a home about a half-mile away.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Soren the barn owl was found after members of the zoo's bird team responded to a call about a possible sighting Friday.

Zoo officials say they examined the owl and found no signs of injury. They say the bird was positively identified from leather bands on its legs.

James Ballance, the zoo's curator of birds, said the bird had lost weight, appeared to be hungry, and showed signs of dehydration. But he said the staff is optimistic that the owl will recover normally.

Zoo spokeswoman Keisha Hines says the owl had flown away from trainers on Aug. 10.
Soren the owl was found safe after he escaped from Zoo Atlanta on August 11.
