Two hurt in Banks County motorcycle wreck

BALDWIN - An Athens man was airlifted and his wife was taken by ambulance after a motorcycle wreck near Baldwin Saturday afternoon. <br /> <br /> Trooper 1st Class Stamey of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville investigated the 1:55 p.m. wreck. <br /> <br /> Stamey said Sunday that for an unknown reason, 60-year-old William Hammond lost control of his 2009 Kawasaki 1700 cruising bike on U.S. 441 just inside Banks County south of Baldwin. <br /> <br /> The motorcycle ran into the median and threw Hammond and 61-year-old Sandra Hammond off. <br /> <br /> Stamey said the motorcycle overturned a couple of times. <br /> <br /> William Hammond was airlifted from the scene to Atlanta Medical Center. <br /> <br /> Sandra Hammond was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. <br />
