Habersham Central grad missing in Yellowstone National Park

TOWER JUNCTION, Wyo. - The National Park Service reports a Georgia man remains missing after being swept down a river in Yellowstone National Park Monday night.<br /> <br /> A press release from the NPS reports 22-year-old Darien Latty and two other concession employees in the park reportedly used inner tubes to float the Lamar River on Monday.<br /> <br /> Shortly after reaching the confluence of the Lamar and Yellowstone rivers, two of the men got out of the water, but Latty was swept downstream by the rushing water.<br /> <br /> Park Service officials say Latty had neither a lifejacket nor an inner tube when he was last seen around 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> "Initial search efforts Monday evening failed to turn up any sign of Latty, who is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes," the NPS release states.<br /> <br /> Latty is a 2010 graduate of Habersham Central High School in Mt. Airy.<br /> <br /> On Tuesday, the search for Latty resumed and utilized some 50 people, a helicopter and three dog teams.<br /> <br /> The search area spans the Yellowstone River corridor from Tower Junction downstream to Gardiner, Mont.<br /> <br /> Floating the river is against park regulations.<br /> <br /> Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Latty is asked to call Yellowstone National Park at (307) 344-2642.
