Texeira, G-Braves take down Tides

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back, defeating the Norfolk Tides 7-1 on Saturday night at Coolray Field. Right-hander Kanekoa Texeira pitched a career-high 7.0 innings and allowed one run to guide the G-Braves to a 2-1 series lead.<br /> <br /> The G-Braves got the scoring started early, plating five runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning. Brandon Boggs knocked in the first run of the game, hitting a hard ground ball to third base with the bases loaded. Tides' third baseman Jimmy Paredes booted it, allowing Tyler Pastornicky to score. A sacrifice fly by Elmer Reyes and three consecutive two-out RBI singles from Sean Kazmar, Ozzie Martinez and Edward Salcedo gave Gwinnett a 5-0 lead.<br /> <br /> Left-hander Chris Jones was tagged for five runs
