First state BOE hearing on Common Core set for Douglasville

ATLANTA - The first state Board of Education hearing on the review of Common Core Georgia Performance Standards will take place Tuesday in Douglasville.<br /> <br /> The hearing, which targets residents of the 13th Congressional District, will be held from 7:00-8:00 at Alexander High School.<br /> <br /> State BOE spokesman Matt Cardoza says as soon as all other board members schedule their hearings, notices notices will be sent out.<br /> <br /> The purpose of the hearings is to hear comments from interested citizens and educators within each of Georgia's congressional districts (Gainesville is in the 9th District) regarding the performance and problems of public education. This includes hearing comments about the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts as part of the State Board's formal evaluation of these standards.<br /> <br />
