Towns County law enforcement ranger awarded officer of the year

HIAWASSEE - A Towns County Department of Natural Resources Ranger was recently awarded Officer of the Year from the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association.<br /> <br /> The award is presented to wildlife officers who have performed outstanding work, exemplary service to the public or have contributed to wildlife law enforcement in other ways.<br /> <br /> David Webb is a Ranger First Class and has been with the DNR Law Enforcement Division for 13 years. He is a member of a Regional Critical Action team that provides specialized law enforcement level search and rescue services as needed throughout the state, and is also a certified Georgia Peace Officers Standard and Training instructor.<br /> <br /> Webb participated in a long term investigation, Operation Something Bruin, which was a three year cooperative federal and state investigation that targeted illegal bear hunting and guiding activities on US Forest Service properties along the Georgia/North Carolina state line.<br /> <br /> Webb was previously selected as the 2013 Ranger of the Year and Investigative Ranger of the Year in his region and statewide. <br />
