SportsTech officials issue memo about president's arrest

HOMER - Officials for SportsTech USA, Inc., are speaking out about Friday's arrest of the company's president, 67-year-old Will Doc 'Buddy' Fowlkes Jr., of Commerce.<br /> <br /> Sgt. Carissa McFaddin of the Banks County Sheriff's Office announced Fowlkes' arrest for child molestation Friday night.<br /> <br /> "We are shocked to learn of the recent events regarding the arrest of Buddy Fowlkes," an email memo from the board of directors of SportsTech USA, Inc., states. "Currently we have not had any contact with Mr. Fowlkes, nor has his family."<br /> <br /> That memo, from SportsTech Executive Director Rick Billingslea and Board Chair Joe Mason, was sent Saturday night.<br /> <br /> "It is our intent to cooperate fully with the investigation," the memo states. "We have begun our own internal investigation as well. SportsTech policies prohibit any kind of misconduct. We have no other comment except to offer our prayers to all concerned and their families. We will issue any statements only after the investigation."<br /> <br /> The law enforcement investigation, which also includes the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is continuing, McFaddin said.<br /> <br /> "I can tell you that additional charges are pending," McFaddin said.<br /> <br /> Anyone with information they believe will help investigators can call the Sheriff's office at (706) 677-2248.
