GAINESVILLE - Events planned this month at the Northeast Georgia History Center:<br /> <br /> Tuesday, August 12, 7 p.m. History Forum: The Gainesville Northwestern Railway<br /> &#8203;Line&#8203;Chris Brooks will present information on the railway line and how it <br /> &#8203;served sawmills in the Helen, GA area. Admission is free for History Center<br /> &#8203;members and $3 for non-members. For more information, call 770-297-5900.<br /> <br /> Sunday, August 17, 1- 4 p.m. Family Day: We've Been Working on the Railroad<br /> &#8203;View railroad history of the Northeast Georgia region through exhibits of<br /> &#8203;artifacts, memorabilia, and photos. Special exhibits include a working<br /> model train; local railway café, The Big ear Café; and Operation Lifesaver<br /> Railroad Safety. Participate in interactive exhibits of railroad tools and<br /> communication, make railroad crafts, and more. Admission is free, courtesy of<br /> North Georgia Eye.
