GA man sentenced to 30 years on child porn charges

ROME, Ga. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a northwest Georgia man accused of extorting children for explicit photos has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.<br /> <br /> U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a statement that 22-year-old Joshua James Geer of Cartersville was sentenced on charges of child pornography production, coercion of minors to engage in unlawful sex acts and possession of child pornography.<br /> <br /> Authorities say Geer befriended a 17-year-old Illinois boy on an online chatroom and eventually threatened to expose him to others if he didn't send photos of himself and his 11-year-old sister engaged in sex acts.<br /> <br /> Investigators say sheriff's officials in Pinellas County, Florida also identified Geer as a suspect who demanded explicit photos from a 16-year-old girl.<br /> <br /> Geer is ordered to serve a lifetime of supervised release after his sentence.
