Victory Junction to present World Crown 300 at Gresham

JEFFERSON, GA - Gresham Motorsports Park announced Wednesday that Victory Junction has agreed to become the presenting partner of the 31st-Annual World Crown 300.<br /> <br /> The August 9, 2014 event will be known as 'The World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction.'<br /> <br /> "This is a very, very special day for Gresham Motorsports Park," stated GMP general manager John Close. "Victory Junction is known far and wide for all the wonderful work they do providing life-changing experiences for children with serious illnesses. To partner with Victory Junction - and to be able to use the World Crown 300 as a means to get the word out about all the amazing things Victory Junction is doing - is very gratifying to everyone here at GMP."<br /> <br /> Victory Junction is located in Randleman, NC on 84 acres and donated by NASCAR legend Richard Petty. Since opening in 2004, Victory Junction has provided more than 20,000 children with illnesses a safe place to try new things under unobtrusive, complete 24-hour medical supervision - all at no cost to the child or their families.<br /> <br /> The 501(c)3 non-profit camp was founded in honor of the late Adam Petty, grandson of Richard Petty and son of Kyle Petty, who lost his life in a NASCAR Nationwide Series practice accident at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2000. The partnering is especially appropriate, as Adam's first pro start came at Gresham Motorsports Park, then known as Peach State Speedway, in 1998.<br /> <br /> Activities at Victory Junction include arts and crafts, woodshop, an adventure course, archery, swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, music and theater, and a special NASCAR-themed program area complete with racecars, racing simulators, and racing gear.<br /> <br /> All of which is a great tie in to one of the most prestigious short-track stock car races in the country - the World Crown 300.<br /> <br /> This year's World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction will feature multiple divisions of racing with Saturday's World Crown 300-lap super late model 'King of the Short Tracks' battle the headline event.<br /> <br /> This year's race will also mark the first time the event will be nationally telecast. According to Close, the taped-delayed, two-hour World Crown 300 television program will be shown in more than 109 million households across the United States and the Caribbean making it a great way to showcase Gresham Motorsports Park and Victory Junction.<br /> <br /> "We knew putting the World Crown 300 on television would allow us to introduce Gresham Motorsports Park to the entire country, but now that we have Victory Junction on board with us, the race and telecast will take on a higher calling." stated Close. We are so proud to be associated with Victory Junction and we're confident this year's World Crown 300 is going to be one of the best in the history of the event because of this association."<br /> <br /> The 2014 World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction will officially get underway on Wednesday, August 6 at Noon Eastern Time with the opening of the GMP campground area. Self Contained/Rough Camping is free of charge in GMP designated areas only.<br /> <br /> Thursday, August 7 will see the first on-track action of the 31st-Annual World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction with an optional test for all Super Late Models, GMP Outlaw Late Models and GMP Pro Trucks from 5-8:30 p.m.<br /> <br /> There will be a second optional test - again from 5-8:30 p.m. - for all 'Crown' entries on Friday, August 8.<br /> <br /> Both the Thursday and Friday test sessions are open for free fan viewing from the Gresham Motorsports Park Trackside Parking area.<br /> <br /> On Friday, fans will also be admitted free to the Hoosier Racing Tire World Crown 300 Qualifying Draw Party from 8:30-10:30 p.m. in the GMP Main Grandstand Concession Area.<br /> <br /> The green flag will fall on the Saturday, August 9 World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction with the opening of the GMP track gates at 8 a.m. Pit gates will open at 9:15 a.m. with World Crown 300 Super Late Model practice hitting the track from 12:15-2:45 p.m. to be followed by practice and qualifying in the Outlaw Late Model and Truck divisions.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, Trackside Parking will open at 1 p.m. while the GMP Main Grandstand will open at 4:30 p.m. ET.<br /> <br /> Pole position qualifying for the World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction will roll off at 5:30 p.m. Fans can meet all drivers during an all-division, on-track autograph session before Opening Ceremonies - and the first race of this year's World Crown - rolls off at 7 p.m.<br /> <br /> For more information about Gresham Motorsports Park and the 31st Annual World Crown 300 Presented By Victory Junction, please visit <a href="http://www.racegmp.com" target="_blank">raceGMP.com</a>.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, to learn more about Victory Junction - please log on to <a href="http://www.victoryjunction.org" target="_blank">victoryjunction.org</a>.
