ATLANTA (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say the owner of a metro Atlanta allergy testing lab has pleaded guilty to filing fake allergy test results.

Authorities said Tuesday that the owner of Polaris Allergy Labs Rashaan Jackson Garth pleaded guilty to health care fraud charges.

Prosecutors say 39-year-old Garth of Marietta told his allergy laboratory technician to not test blood samples that doctors sent to his lab between September 2012 and February 2014. Authorities say the samples were supposed to be tested for food and environmental allergies.

Prosecutors say Garth was trying to save money by faking the results and sending them back to the patients' doctors. Investigators say Garth submitted bills to patients' health care benefit programs despite failing to perform the services he charged them for.

Garth's sentencing date hasn't been set.
