Alto man convicted in child molestation case, sentenced to 25 years in prison

GAINESVILLE- An Alto man was sentenced today to 25 years in prison without parole for the aggravated molestation of a child.<br /> <br /> James Brandon Ayers was 17 at the time of the crimes against a now 8 year old boy. He was charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and child molestation, according to a press release from District Attorney Lee Darragh.<br /> <br /> Ayers is now 19. He was sentenced to a minimum mandatory of 25 years in prison with no parole, followed by probation. Conditions of probation included mental health evaluation, no contact with the victim and other conditions related to sex offenders, according to the release.<br /> <br /> Darragh said in the release that the jury deliberated for roughly an hour before reaching their verdict at about 3 p.m. today. The trial began Monday. <br />
