Hundreds of dogs seized from Cherokee County property

CUMMING - Cherokee County officials have seized over 350 dogs from a property near Cumming.<br /> <br /> The dogs were found during a compliance check in the 14000 block of Cumming Highway, or Georgia 20, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.<br /> <br /> The living conditions were deplorable, according to the paper, and the dogs were housed in cages. <br /> <br /> "The dogs were being kept in unsanitary conditions and housed in cages," Alexa Huston, spokeswoman for the Marshal's Office, said in an emailed statement to the AJC. <br /> <br /> "Underneath most of the cages were feces, urine and dog food that had fallen through the grates."<br /> <br /> The 357 dogs have since been taken to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. The paper reports the dogs are not available for adoption yet.<br /> <br /> CBS 46 reports that the owner of the property made a court appearance Tuesday, but her attorney requested the case be moved to state court.<br /> <br /> The owner's husband told the TV station his family has raised and sold dogs for more than 40 years.
