Arrest made in May church burglaries in Lumpkin and Dawson counties

DAHLONEGA - One suspect has been arrested with another arrest pending in connection with the string of church burglaries in Lumpkin and Dawson counties that occurred in May.<br /> <br /> Skylar Michaelson, 20, of Lumpkin County was apprehended following a pursuit by Lumpkin and Dawson county authorities along with the Georgia State Patrol. <br /> <br /> A vehicle suspected to be connected with the burglaries was seen travelling from Hall County into Lumpkin County late Friday night. While being pursued, Michaelson, who was driving the vehicle in question, crashed on Harmony Church Road, then fled on foot into the woods. He was coaxed out by Lumpkin County authorities and arrested on traffic-related charges, but is also being held in Lumpkin County in connection with the May burglaries.<br /> <br /> The church burglaries happened within a few hours on the morning of May 13. Authorities said at the times that St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Concord Baptist Church and Mt. Sinai Baptist Church were burglarized, with money and property taken.<br /> <br /> CBS Atlanta reported that members of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church arrived in the office the morning of May 13 to find money missing from deposit envelopes. The money had been collected during offering in the preceding Sunday service.<br /> <br /> This story will be updated as more details become available.<br />
