CLARKESVILLE - Clarkesville Police Chief Brad Barrett today released details of a reported juvenile abduction and rape in the city Monday night.

"On Monday, July 7, Clarkesville Police Department responded to an alleged juvenile abduction and reported rape and sexual assault that occurred in a residential area with the city of Clarkesville," Barrett said Wednesday afternoon.

A 16-year-old girl's parents first reported her missing to police, noting she went missing from her bedroom between 10 and 11 p.m.

"As officers were gathering information, the female returned to the home in an obviously distraught condition," a statement about the incident reads. "The female disclosed to investigators that she was at home and in her bedroom and heard a knock on her window. The female states that she then went to open the window and was physically apprehended and pulled through the window by an unknown white male assailant."

The girl told officers the male carried her to a black four-door sedan and placed her in the backseat with another female, which officers refer to as an accomplice of the man.

There, the two placed something like a cloth bag over her head and drove her to an unknown wooded area and sexually assaulted and raped her, the girl told officers. She said she then was driven back to a location near her house and released.

Barrett said details of the suspects are very sketchy at this time.

So far, these descriptions are all that investigators have:

* White male of average height with muscular build; was wearing a ball cap at the time of the incident, but no clothing description was available; and a

* White female with long dark hair, with no other description available.

The vehicle is described as a dark-colored, possibly black, newer-model, small, four-door sedan.

"At this time, it is believed that this is an isolated incident, however, our department will remain extremely vigilant for any related activity," Barrett said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Clarkesville Police Department at (706) 754-5390. Any information given will remain confidential.
