Carter's fundraising outpaces Deal in last quarter

ATLANTA (AP) - New fundraising reports in the Georgia governor's race show Democrat Jason Carter raised more money in the last quarter than Gov. Nathan Deal, though the Republican incumbent still has more cash in the bank. <br /> <br /> Reports filed Tuesday evening show Deal raised $1.27 million in the three-month period ending June 30. Carter's total for the quarter was $2.02 million outpacing the sitting governor by nearly $747,000. <br /> <br /> Deal still ended the quarter with the overall cash advantage. He reported nearly $2.62 million cash on hand at the end of June putting him more than $797,000 ahead of Carter's bank balance of $1.82 million. <br /> <br /> With nearly four months to go until the Nov. 4 election, Deal has raised $9.31 million overall for race, compared to Carter's total of $3.88 million.
