Hasty Pope's Davies graduates from State Bar's Young Lawyers Division Leadership

GAINESVILLE - Dustin E. Davies, associate attorney at Gainesville-based Hasty Pope, recently graduated from the State Bar of Georgia 2014 Young Lawyers Division Leadership. <br /> <br /> Founded in 2006, the YLD Leadership Academy is a highly selective, six-month program designed to develop the leadership skills of young lawyers and to educate them on their profession, their communities, and the State. The Leadership Academy counts more than 300 alumni, including judicial law clerks, partners in large and small law firms, assistant district attorneys, and in-house counsel for Fortune 500 companies.<br /> <br /> The group had several meetings throughout the six-month process, including it first meeting held in conjunction with the State Bar's Midyear Meeting in Atlanta. At each event, Dustin had opportunities to connect with the staff of the State Bar; spend time with judges of the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Supreme Court of Georgia, and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia; discuss legislation related to the legal profession with members of the General Assembly, including a proposed e-discovery bill and a bill on seatbelt admissibility in motor vehicle collision cases; engage in panel discussions on diversity and the importance of pro bono legal work; and to participate in a Wills Clinic, drafting wills for Columbia and Richmond County first responders and their families. <br /> <br /> Davies is a trial attorney in Hasty Pope's Gainesville office. His practice is devoted to personal injury and wrongful death, as well as medical malpractice and products liability.<br /> <br /> In 2014, Davies was selected as a Georgia Rising Star by Super Lawyers and Atlanta Magazine. Only 2.5 percent of the attorneys in Georgia are selected for this honor.
