BUFORD - A weekend fire on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard in Gwinnett County has been deemed an arson.

Captain Tommy Rutledge with the Gwinnett County Fire Department said multiple calls had brought them to the home in the 5300 block of Highway 20 in Buford on Sunday.

He said when crews arrived, the two story home was fully engulfed in flames. Rutledge said no one was injured in the fire, but the home was ruled a total loss.

After speaking with the home owner, the crew discovered the home had been vacant for sometime.

"In fact, there were signs of vandalism that the owner said he had seen periodically in the past," said Rutledge. "According to investigators , there's no power, no utilities to the home and really no reason for a fire to have started other than an intentional act."

Georgia Arson Control, Inc. is offering the reward. "That reward is up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible," said Rutledge.
