LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County police investigators say once a Duluth man gets out of the hospital, he will be charged with the murder of his wife.

In a press statement, the Gwinnett County Police Department said officers responded Wednesday night at 11 p.m. to the scene of a reported stabbing at 825 Club Place in unincorporated Duluth. They said when they arrived they found Marisol Rodriguez, 32, dead from apparently stab wounds. Her husband Vicente Rivadeneira-Torres, 36, was collapsed close by with a knife protruding from his chest.

Police said they believe Rivadeneira-Torres killed his wife and then tried to kill himself. An investigation indicated the two had argues just prior to the stabbing.

Police said the couple's 10-year-old daughter ran from the home to get help and was not injured. She has since been released to the custody of relatives.

Rivadeneira-Torres, who is expected to survive his injuries, was hospitalized in serious condition, according to the latest reports from Gwinnett County police.

On Thursday, detectives obtained warrants for felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of 3rd degree cruelty to children against Rivadeneira-Torres. Police said when he is released from the hospital, he will be transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
