VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Police say a misunderstanding between two men carrying guns led to tense moments in a south Georgia convenience store.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress said the dispute happened Tuesday, the first day Georgia's new gun law took effect. The law allows people with gun licenses to carry weapons in more places.

Childress said the dispute began when a customer with a gun on his hip was inside the store when a second customer with a gun on his hip walked in.

Childress said one of them drew his firearm from its holster -- but never pointed it at the other man -- and demanded he show an ID.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports (http://bit.ly/VFCM4A ) that police were called and one of the customers -- a 62-year-old man -- faces a disorderly conduct charge.
