ATHENS - Abit Massey of Gainesville, a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia and president emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation, will give the summer Commencement address at the University of Georgia's combined undergraduate and graduate ceremony. It will be held Aug. 1 at 9:30 at Stegeman Coliseum.

"Welcoming back an alumnus like Abit Massey, who is a living legend in the world of Georgia agribusiness, is an honor for the university," said President Jere W. Morehead. "He is one of the most respected and influential leaders in the agricultural industry, and he has given to his alma mater with tremendous devotion and generosity. The university is a far better place because of his contributions."

Massey graduated from UGA with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1949 and has served his alma mater in a variety of capacities since then.

For more information on the ceremony, see http://commencement.uga.edu/.
