Franklin County man faces numerous felony charges

CARNESVILLE - A Franklin County man faces numerous charges after a pair of incidents over the weekend.<br /> <br /> Franklin County Investigator/Chief Deputy Jimmy LeCroy said 44-year-old James Quentin Mason of the Sandy Cross community is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of first-degree burglary (residential), two counts of felony theft by taking, four counts of second-degree arson, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.<br /> <br /> On Saturday, the daughter-in-law of a property owner went to that property to check on it and observed an unknown white male in the shop. When she entered the house, she quickly realized it had been burglarized, LeCroy said.<br /> <br /> The man fled the property in a blue Buick, with the woman following him in her car. <br /> <br /> "He stopped his car in the middle of the road and pointed a gun at her," LeCroy said. That resulted in the aggravated assault charge.<br /> <br /> LeCroy said the woman is a deputy sheriff in another jurisdiction and was able to provide officers with a good description of the man, his clothes and the vehicle.<br /> <br /> The man then fled again. Franklin County deputies looked for him until 3 or 4 a.m. Sunday, LeCroy said.<br /> <br /> Deputies next heard about the man when he allegedly committed another burglary in the Sandy Cross area, but this time the victim knew him, providing officers with a description matching the man they were looking for, along with a name, LeCroy said.<br /> <br /> Mason was located around 2:30 or 3 p.m. Sunday in Hart County. Investigators obtained search warrants for the man's clothes and vehicle.<br /> <br /> The arson charges are related to heavy equipment rollbacks, LeCroy said.
