DULUTH - Seven children from a daycare center sustained minor burns on a Tuesday morning field trip to the Southeastern Railway Museum.
Gwinnett Fire Department Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the children, ages 4 to 11, were injured as they rode on a full-size train at the museum on Buford Highway. He said hot embers blew from the train stack and landed on the group.
Rutledge described the burns as small - dime and quarter sized; some were first degree and others were second degree. All seven injured children were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
Rutledge said firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 10:42 a.m.
