Toddler drowns in Hiawassee pond

HIAWASSEE - Towns County Sheriff's Office investigators said Monday a toddler drowned in a pond on Cyth Creek Road Sunday.<br /> <br /> According to a statement from the sheriff's office, the 2-year-old was outside playing with two older brothers when he went missing. The toddler's mother told authorities she was the one who found her son in the pond and began administering CPR.<br /> <br /> The toddler was transported to Chatuge Regional Hospital by Towns County EMS, where he later died.<br /> <br /> Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim pending notification of relatives.<br /> <br /> While the incident appears to be an accident, sheriff's officials are continuing to investigate the drowning.<br />
