Blackwood to head Georgia Driver's Education Commission

GAINESVILLE - Harris Blackwood of Gainesville has been named chairman of the Georgia Driver's Education Commission.<br /> <br /> Blackwood, who also serves as head of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, was recently sworn in by Governor Nathan Deal.<br /> <br /> The Georgia Driver's Education Commission was created in 2005 to provide information about a state law that mandates completion of a driver's education program for anyone seeking a Georgia driver's license prior to turning 17.<br /> <br /> The Commission may also recommend to the Governor and the state Legislature changes in state programs, statutes, policies, budgets, and standards related to driver education and training in Georgia, with the objective of maximizing participation in driver's education, training and accident reduction.
