Reece Center to host Mountain Herbs & Remedies Program

BLAIRSVILLE - The Byron Herbert Reece Farm and Heritage Center near Blairsville will host a one-day program next week on mountain herbs and remedies.<br /> <br /> It will be held Saturday, June 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.<br /> <br /> People of Appalachia used available herbs to cure diseases and supplement their food supply. Herbs have been utilized for a variety of applications, including aromatherapy, alleviating digestive issues, pain relief, skin care, and even weight loss.<br /> <br /> Herbalist Janice Boling of Payne Mountain Farms will demonstrate the use of mountain herbs for medicines, foods, and ointments. Ointments made of herbs will be available for sampling and for sale.<br /> <br /> Admission to the program is free but a $3 admission fee is charged to those 12 and older who wish to tour the venue's exhibits. <br /> <br /> For more information, contact the Reece Center at 706-745-2034.
