SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Army officials say Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is in stable condition and working daily with health professionals after being held by the Taliban for five years in Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. Joseph P. DiSalvo said during a news conference Friday that Bergdahl will work daily with mental and medical professionals. DiSalvo says there's no timeline for his reintegration, but that Bergdahl was in stable condition.

Bergdahl was released last month following five years in captivity in Afghanistan in a controversial prisoner swap with the Taliban. He'd been recovering at an Army facility in Germany but returned to the U.S. earlier Friday, arriving at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

DiSalvo is commander of U.S. Army South, which is based at Fort Sam Houston.
