LCKC set to host Southern Invitational on Saturday at Clarks Bridge

GAINESVILLE -- The Southern Invitational canoe and kayak regatta will take place on Saturday at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue at Clarks Bridge Park in Gainesville. <br /> <br /> This event will feature high caliber athletes from the Lanier Canoe/Kayak Club as well as over 50 athletes competing from Oklahoma City. <br /> <br /> This Southern Invitational acts as a mid-season event where paddlers may test their skills against one another in preparation for the National Championships to be held on Lake Lanier in July. <br /> <br /> The event begins at 8 a.m. and runs to 5 p.m. The Southern Invitational is free to all spectators and is part Olympic Day, which is endorsed by the United States Olympic Committee. Gainesville mayor Danny Dunagan will be on hand to make a proclamation.<br /> <br /> Regattas such as the Southern Invitational helps the LCKC to continue the legacy of the 1996 Summer Centennial Olympic Games and to promote health, education and fitness for all ages and abilities through quality flatwater canoe and kayak programs while continuing the Olympic spirit by promoting excellence in our competitive teams. <br /> <br /> For more information <a href="www.lckc.org">visit the LCKC web site</a> or call Morgan House at 770-540-6307.
