HOMER - Banks County officials report the county's water customers can begin using water again without boiling it.

The county does, however, encourage homeowners to take steps to alleviate any residual water that might have questionable quality.

Those steps include:

* Run water faucets for three to five minutes to flush interior plumbing;

* Empty and clean automatic icemakers and water chillers, and drink machines that pull water automatically or hold water in reservoirs;

* Drain and refill water heaters if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit; and

* Run water softener/cartridge filters through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
