MT. AIRY - Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle wreck near Habersham Central High School Monday morning.

The collision occurred just west of Owens Circle toward Cornelia around 11 a.m.

Trooper 1st Class Jesse Lewis provided details of the wreck.

A 2008 Ford Fusion driven by 16-year-old Dillon Caudell of Mt. Airy was traveling west on Camp Creek Road, Lewis said.

A Lexus RX-300 driven by 63-year-old Anita Parker of Cornelia and a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 68-year-old John Lipkin of Mt. Airy were traveling east on Camp Creek Road, both negotiating a curve, Lewis said.

"Vehicle 1 [Caudell] crossed the centerline, sideswiping Vehicle 2 [Parker]," Lewis said. "Vehicle 1 then struck Vehicle 3 [Lipkin] head-on, causing Vehicle 1 to rotate counterclockwise, coming to a final rest in the center of Camp Creek Road."

Lipkin's car also rotated counterclockwise, coming to rest off the south shoulder of Camp Creek Road, Lewis said.

Both Caudell and Lipkin were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by fire department personnel from Habersham County and Demorest Fire Department.

Caudell, who suffered upper extremity injuries, was airlifted from the scene to Atlanta Medical Center, Lewis said.

Lipkin, who suffered visible injuries, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Lewis said.

Parker was not hurt, Lewis said.
