Pet treat company to open new Hall facility

GAINESVILLE - A pet treat manufacturer and distributor is expected to open a new processing facility on White Sulphur Road in Gainesville.<br /> <br /> Big Creek Foods announced the 20,000 square foot facility and plans to hire 25 workers last week, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.<br /> <br /> According to a news release from the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, Big Creek will make and distribute the treats using food safety standards akin to human food production. While hiring has started, the company plans to double the number positions within three years.<br /> <br /> "Pets are family members, and they deserve treats that are delicious, nutritious, and made from the highest quality ingredients." We are excited about starting up our new facility and bringing innovative products to this growing market," Thomas Gay, President of Big Creek Foods said.<br /> <br /> The family-owned company plans to use chicken sourced in north Georgia and a variety of other ingredients.<br /> <br /> There's no word on a timeline for the facility to begin operation.
