GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Republican Party said in a published statement it is opposed to proposed tax increases by the Hall County Commission and the Flowery Branch City Council.

Both government entities announced plans to consider tax increases last week - a 4.36 percent increase for Hall County and a 17.62 percent increase for Flowery Branch.

"We believe in smaller government with limited taxation. We will hold our elected officials responsible for their actions related to these ideals, especially those who claim our Party's banner," read the statement issued to the media.

The Hall County GOP said it wants both the Hall County Board of Commissioners and the Flowery Branch City Council to roll back millage rates, and thus avoid an increase in taxes. Also, party leaders indicated they will investigate the reasons behind the proposed tax increases and question government leader about their motives.

See the links below for details on public hearings for the proposed tax increases for both Hall County and Flowery Branch.
