Flowery Branch schedules public hearings on proposed tax increase

FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch officials have scheduled three public hearings this month on a proposed 17.62 percent property tax increase.<br /> <br /> The city council has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require the increase which will result in a millage rate of 3.337 mills, an increase of .5 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 2.837 mills. <br /> <br /> The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $35 and the proposed increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $30.<br /> <br /> The public hearings will be held at Flowery Branch City Hall as follows:<br /> <br /> June 12 at 6:00 p.m.<br /> June 19 at 8:00 a.m.<br /> June 26 at 6:00 p.m.
