ELLIJAY, GA - Ellijay police have arrested a man they say hit a toddler with a car and then drove off.

Local media report the 18-month-old is in ``stable but non-responsive condition'' after he was hit in the Gilmer County River Park parking lot around 9 p.m. Friday.

The boy's father told police his son had been hit by a silver Ford Fusion with a ``drive out tag.'' Police were able to track the vehicle to Waleska.

The driver was identified as 26-year-old Jordan Allen Hyde of Talking Rock. He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and serious injury by vehicle. It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.
