Two charged with armed robbery, assault in Rabun

CLAYTON - Two people were arrested in Clayton Saturday following a reported robbery in Mountain City.<br /> <br /> Rabun County Sheriff Frank Andrews reports that Mountain City Police Lt. Cary Brown stopped a car driven by Clare Wilmot.<br /> <br /> Wilmot told Brown she had been robbed at gunpoint by a male and female after the pair sprayed some type of eye irritant in her face and eyes, Andrews reports. The man and woman demanded her purse.<br /> <br /> Brown contacted the Rabun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division and Lt. Jack Tanksley began investigating the incident.<br /> <br /> Tanksley identified the suspects as Maryann Kinsey and Wesley Roberts, both of whom were stopped and arrested by Clayton police.<br /> <br /> Kinsey and Roberts each face a charge of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault, and remain in the Rabun County Detention Center.
